The electricity distribution networks consist of several thousands of devices and sections. The engineering analysis of such systems is complex and requires advanced computational tools and techniques. Power flow analysis is an important study for distribution engineers utilised to obtain the voltage profile of a network for a given electric demand. The objective of this project is to develop a general, efficient and comprehensive power flow solution algorithm in the phase frame designated principally for electrical distribution systems. The algorithm will be capable of incorporating novel control devices and high levels of renewable energy sources. It will allow the detailed modeling of complex secondary grid systems typically found in dense urban areas. Another objective is to improve the computational efficiency so that the solution may act as the foundation pillar for real time operational control and decision-support systems.
