项目摘要

X-ray diffraction is an invaluable technique that allows scientists to probe the atomic-scale ordering of materials by examining the scattering of X-rays from a crystalline sample. We are seeking funding to upgrade an existing X-ray Diffractometer at SFU to allow for the acquisition of data more quickly and with higher sensitivity than is currently possible. The requested upgrade will permit a wide range of experiments that are not possible with the existing instrumentation, including the added capability to examine samples at temperatures between room temperature and 1200°C. This upgrade is essential for the ongoing research programs of material scientists at SFU.
