Water quality is by far the largest concern at closure of a mine site. Of particular interest are open mine pits, which fill with water to form lakes. Not only is the water quality of these pit-lakes of interest, but also the potential to use pit-lakes in the treatment of other water quality problems such as isolating contaminated water or mine waste at depth. Predicting the water quality of pit-lakes is important to ensure closure plans are cost
