Biological processes such as embryogenesis, organ development, cellular communication, immune response, and a large spectrum of host-pathogen interactions are at some level defined by adhesion forces between interacting entities, an area foreign to all but few selected biophysicists. Such adhesive interaction should also play a crucial role in medical interventions, including delivery of particulate drug regimens and prosthetic implant. Another example is inhaled particles. To have adverse health effect, they need to adhere to the air-lung interface. A method to explore this integral aspect of biology will revolutionize modern biological research and medical intervention.
