This grant application seeks funds for the purchase of an MRI-compatible ERP measurement system. ERP (Evoked Response Potentials) and fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) are two brain imaging technologies that complement each other well, as the former provides good temporal resolution while the latter provides good spatial resolution. That is, ERP tells us when something is happening in the brain, while fMRI tells us where it is happening. Using them together will provide us with an excellent window into how the brain functions. The applicants currently have access to fMRI, but not to the kind of ERP instrumentation that can be used simultaneously with it. Therefore, we have sought funding to obtain it. This will complement our existing research capacities and give us a cutting-edge ability to do brain imaging research.
