Although recognizing a face is something most of us do every day without obvious effort, it is in fact an incredibly complex task. This research is an attempt to figure out how the human visual system accomplishes it. Face perception is an important human capacity that may involve a different kind of processing mechanism than does our perception of other visual objects, and which seems to have a network of brain areas specifically devoted to it.
