Recent results achieved by the PI in obtaining strong localization and high field enhancement using THz resonant dipole nanoantennas point toward the possible application of such structures for a novel class of THz devices. Similarly to what has been already reported in the visible spectral region, we propose to exploit the unique properties of these antennas for the realization of nanoplasmonic-assisted THz biosensors and nonlinear devices. Thanks to the outstanding performances of these new tools, anticipated by preliminary numerical simulations, the applicant foresees a large impact on the research community as well as a rapid and widespread diffusion in more applicative sectors. For these reasons, the PI has recently established a vigorous research program directed toward the investigation of enhanced THz radiation-matter interactions, well suited within his recognized expertise in THz science.
