The research in progress examines factors which influence the formation and removal of by-products (BPs) of the disinfection or oxidative treatment of water and wastewater. The primary objectives are to identify unit treatment process characteristics and water quality parameters which reduce or eliminate BPs from water, and to provide data to improve predictive BP modeling. Secondary objectives include investigating means of improving solar disinfection protocols for application in developing countries.
