The equipment consists of active stereo video projection units to fill a CAVE-like immersive visualization environment from floor to (nearly) ceiling and a motion capture system to acquire accurate data of human body posture and gait within the entire workspace. The projection hardware, integrated with our active floor tiles will allow us to provide users with rich, immersive, multimodal synthetic content, for example, simulating the experience of walking down a particular street or on a sandy beach. The motion capture system is used primarily for real-time interactive tasks and off-line analysis of human body posture and gait, helping us to understand the perceptual effects of the different modalities.
