Unconventional resources such as heavy oil, bitumen and conventional oil from tight reservoirs (tight oil) are becoming the primary source of crude oil for Canadians. As such the applicant's research plan evolves around the optimum exploitation of these resources. This proposal addresses the need to study mechanisms of displacement and production of tight oil. It is prepared to conduct some fundamental displacement models using multi-physics software and fundamental experiments with reservoir rock to study interfacial and displacement phenomena in tight oil reservoirs.
