项目摘要

Cavorgen Technologies is an Ontario corporation focused on scientific research into and development of low-impact, non-chemical solutions for water treatment. The company has recently developed a device that kills bacteria in water. The essence of this device is a copper tube that is surrounded by a material proprietary to the company. When water contaminated with bacteria is circulated through the tube, a high proportion of the bacteria are killed without contact between the proprietary material and the contaminated water; there is no external power source and no moving parts. Prototype devices have been constructed and tested over a period of two years by Cavorgen and independent laboratories. The results have repeatedly shown bacterial kill rates in excess of 90% for total coliforms and E. coli specifically, in water where the starting concentration of bacteria is between 1000 and 4000 cfu/mL. The project proposed with the University of Guelph is to verify the technology's capabilities and to extend the research towards commercial application.
