Models and methods for reliability enhancement of engineering systems

Reliability is a critical measure of performance of engineering systems such as spacecraft, telecommunication networks, transportation vehicles, petrochemical refineries, and nuclear reactors. Conventional reliability analysis methods are limited by its fundamental assumption that both the system and its components can be in one of only two possible states: working or failed and the statistical approach used to estimate the life of running equipment. This research program aims to develop multi-state reliability models and methods and condition based reliability analysis approaches for reliability enhancement of engineering systems.
