英文摘要
A major goal of our research program is to measure and understand the molecular-level damage mechanisms in nucleic acids. Our approach combines the development of novel tools and massively-parallel platforms for measuring molecular-scale nucleic acid damage, with elucidation of reaction mechanisms. We use primarily fluorescence, absorption and resonance Raman to characterize nucleic acid damage in detail, starting with the femtosecond excited-state structural dynamics. Our primary research interests include probing the deleterious effects of various damage insults on DNA and RNA on a genome-wide scale and understanding the sequence and structural determinants of such damage.
