AC-DC power converters are the most common interface between the AC power that is available from utilities and the DC power that is needed to power most commercial electronics. They are either inside commercial products or are used as separate adaptors or battery chargers. Such converters are ubiquitous and thus there is a substantial market for them. It has been estimated that the world market for such converters is approximately $15-20 billion and is expected to continue to grow due in the future.
