Aerospace industry has seen a thriving evolution in the recent decades driven by the demand for delivering ever greener, safer and more economical airplanes. This progress was made possible in part by the integration of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations within the aircraft development process. It limits costly wind-tunnel tests and proves to be reliable for aerodynamic calculations, simultaneously reducing turnaround time and program development risks. Its success stems to a large extent from a tremendous increase of speed of central processing units (CPUs). It is the increase of the computational horsepower of tomorrow's computing architectures that will shape the future of CFD within the aerospace industry.
