Deterioration of ageing bridge infrastructure has been well noted worldwide. Also, continuous advancement in knowledge in earthquake engineering has deemed many existing structures to be in need of structural upgrade. The last decades have witnessed an increasing demand for strengthening or rehabilitation of deteriorated bridges and existing buildings. Escalating attention is being paid to study potential applications and benefits of using fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in retrofitting reinforced concrete (RC) elements.
