项目摘要
The objectives of the proposed research are to advance the knowledge and applications of computer aided design (CAD) in high frequency systems, and to develop advanced and innovative microwave and millimeter-wave passive devices using different technologies. The emphasis will be the efficient design of filters, diplexers and multiplexers, focusing on the following areas. (1) For the design of multiplexing networks, which are widely used in communications satellites, highly efficient, robust and flexible design methodologies will be developed enabling overall multiplexer performance enhancement without resorting to more expensive technologies. (2) A combination of different techniques, such as neural networks and distributed circuit models, will be employed to accurately and quickly model filter/multiplexer behavior over a wide frequency range, to enable modeling, optimization and compensation of non-ideal effects, such as dispersion and spurious mode interference. (3) To find a low loss, low cost and highly integrated solution for millimeter-wave systems, Integrated Passive Devices (IPD) technology will be explored for the development of high quality filters and diplexers. Integration with other devices in the system, such as active devices and on-chip antenna, will also be investigated.
