Solid Waste Management Research Workshop

The handling and fate of solid waste in Canada continues to be a complex and costly problem, spread among many governmental levels as well as the private sector. The extent and quality of information about solid waste generation and disposal is lacking. Although a number of academic researchers across Canada have worked on various aspects, there has not been a coordinated effort to find solutions that are tailored for the unique Canadian problems. Therefore, it is the goal of this workshop to bring together the various academic experts in a wide variety of research areas related to solid waste management. Also included will be major stakeholders in government and industry, and together the workshop participants will identify key research priorities and the collaborations that can be formed to address these issues. The ultimate goal of the workshop is to promote the pursuance of one or more major research collaborations that will help to make progress in the
