Geophysical methods are readily used for seismic site characterization, which is becoming increasingly important in Canada after the recent changes in the seismic specifications of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC). Investigating the effect of frequency of excitation on the accuracy of geophysical test results is very important for the correct evaluation of in-situ properties because improper excitation frequency may miss information about thin soil layers and lenses and give erroneous results.
