英文摘要
Dogs and cats are the most common companion animals that benefit their owners in many ways as friends and companions. Periodontal disease is the most common disease in these animals. The proposed project aims to develop a proof of principle technology for assessing periodontal disease status and risks in dogs and cats. The major pathogenic complex will be determined and sensitive diagnostic assays will be developed. Host factors such as MMP-8 will also be targeted in the assay so that disease progression can be monitored and assessed. The project aims to meet an urgent need that our industry partner, Periodiagnostics Inc has, and the technology to be developed will not only propel the growth of the company but also serves as a basis for future innovation for the industry.
