It is estimated that batch failures in biotechnology manufacturing occur every 60 weeks per facility. A single batch of an active ingredient if lost would equate to a sales revenue loss of $15 million alone. Operators in biotechnology manufacturing require real-time analytics that are easy to mentally process for effective management of batch processing. Conventional technologies used on the shop floor are not designed to help operators prevent failures of batches in alarm condition. Moreover, knowledge gained from batch production experiences are lost to the corporation and there is a need to identify best-practice results with solutions that provide trending analytics. This project will analyze the workflow in a biotechnology manufacturing plant, elicit technology requirements from operators, and accordingly deliver a prototype solution.
