Construction has the highest number of fatality of any industry in Canada. Struck-by hazards are the second leading cause of construction fatalities, in which approximately 58% of deaths result from struck-by-equipment. Despite training and improvements in personal protective equipment, construction sites remain a hazardous environment especially due to the continuous and dynamic interactions between various entities, such as equipment and workers-on-foot. Extensive research has been carried out to enhance construction safety by utilizing various sensing technologies. However, the results show a high rate of false alarms that has put a limitation on implementation of these systems in the real world. This proposal aims to
