Adjuvant Therapeutics Inc. is a medical device company based in Halifax, focused on providing systems and methods for control of in vivo oxygenation levels in humans. Adjuvant Therapeutics needs to use MRI as a platform in order to provide real-time in-vivo feedback of changes in tissue oxygenation brought about by respiratory control of oxygen and carbon dioxide. In order to achieve this, their existing prototype system must be evaluated and substantially modified in order to operate within the MRI. Dr. Chronik's research group at Western University specializes in the development and testing of MR-compatible medical devices and technology. His group also has full access to industry standard MRI systems at 1.5 T, 3 T and Canada's only 7-T MRI system. It is the ability to conduct comprehensive analysis and testing of medical devices across a wide range of MR platforms that is critical to addressing the challenges for the proposed Adjuvant Medical system.
