项目摘要
For future perimeter-surveillance radar applications, our industrial partner, K&Gspectrum Inc, is interested in
developing compact and broad-beam antennas that will provide a 90ox90o-radiation beam. Such broad beam
antennas will be employed in K&Gspectrum's perimeter-surveillance radar systems for covering large
surveillance areas. In this perspective, we propose in this project to design and develop a new compact
broad-beam antenna operating at ISM band of 24 GHz. In this project, K&Gspectrum Inc. will provide research
support and guidance to the researcher throughout the project. Furthermore, the project will capitalize on the
advanced RF laboratory facility funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Quebec
government.
The requested support from the NSERC would allow the proposed team to design and develop compact
broad-beam antennas for future perimeter-surveillance radar systems. The antennas should be compact and
provide a large radiation beam with high performances in terms of efficiency and beamwidth. With these
features, the proposed antenna can be used in perimeter surveillance radars to cover wide areas with large
angles in azimuth and elevation planes.
To cope with this challenge, the proposed research will focus on three parts: (i) theoretical study to evaluate
recent developments in the field of mm-wave antenna design and to find the potential candidates; (ii) design
and analysis to develop compact broad beam antennas, and (iii) prototyping and characterization of the
proposed antennas. The developed technology will be beneficial to K&Gspectrum Inc. and the Canadian space
industry in general by efficiently contributing in the development of new broad beam antennas operating at 24
GHz band for perimeter-surveillance radar applications.

为了应对这一挑战,拟议的研究将集中在三个部分:(i)评估理论研究
