XCo has developed a new low-cost set of methods to precisely measure indoor and outdoor location up to a range of few hundred meters. In addition the system can also communicate sensor data over the same channel. Precise location determination leads to a wide variety of new products and applications. The company has decided to focus on sport and healthcare applications given its experience and expertise in those industries. The amount of data and its accuracy is unprecedented for a real-time location system. This leads to new calculations and outcomes for athletes, caregivers and patients. As a result, real-time and historical data archives need to be researched, rethought and reinvented in order to tap the potential of this system. The software automation research done in this project will determine how athletes, coaches and caregivers will best receive objective data to improve future outcomes using very precise movement data, which has been integrated with other pertinent biosensor data.
