Aflare Systems Inc. is relatively new and innovative company with the focus on product and services in the aerospace and
space sectors. Aflares current emphasis is in the area of communications systems design to provide reliable and robust
solution for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and small satellite developers. This proposal is to provide innovative techniques (1) to design and perform qualification tests for a newly developed and COTS components based S-band
transceiver (namely, BlueShift) and (2) to examine the feasibility of the next generation of S/C or X-band transceiver design
using the software defined radio (SDR) approach. Aflares miniature S-band transceiver design, BlueShift boasts 2
MBits/second and aimed to be operational in both aerial and space applications. The company-specific problem we address
in this project is to validate the products functionality in relevant applications using cost effective methods and approaches
suitable for small company entering the aerospace market; Thus, the applicant and her team will work with the prototype
BlueShift transceiver and develop a series of qualification tests (both environment and functional), compatible with the
typical UAV and nanosatellite missions.
