项目摘要
Nexterra Systems Corp. is a BC-based Canadian company and a global leader in waste-to-energy gasification
systems. One of Nexterra's on-going challenges is severe corrosion in their gasifier boiler systems. Corrosion in
gasifier boilers is influenced by the gas composition and temperature on the hot side of the boiler. The
combination of composition and temperature will affect the rate of salt deposition on the boiler tube surface as
well as the nature of the chemical (and electrochemical) reactions that occur. To aid in it's design and materials
specification procedures, Nexterra is in need of a sample holder probe to facilitate in-situ gasifier corrosion
testing that can duplicate the thermal conditions experienced by the materials employed in the superheater. It
has been observed from previous studies that along the air-cooled probe there exist temperature differences
from sample to sample. Since temperature is a key factor for evaluating the corrosion resistance of various
alloys, it is important to make the probe surface temperature both controllable and uniform. The proposed work
is aimed at developing a temperature-tuneable air-cooled probe through a combined approach of mathematical
modeling and in-plant testing. The end goal is to develop a temperature tuneable air-cooled sample holder
probe that Nexterra can implement at its various facilities in Canada and elsewhere.
