IPSNP is a Canadian company with a data integration software product. The company has clients in the
Environment and Healthcare agencies in Canada and the US. The product is a middleware technology that can
provide users with real time access to thousands of analytical software, online and enterprise databases through
a single query portal. HYDRA is a powerful query engine that can identify data sources, plan and execute
workflows to deliver answers to complex queries. In this project the academic partner will provide assistance to
the company in refining its current product targeting customers in the Environment agencies. In this product
development phase the company requires expertise to support discovery and modelling of new data sources
relevant to the domain. The academic partner will identify and study how to operationalize the key data Bioand
Enviro-informatics resources into information pipelines suitable for easy reuse. This will include
documenting of data access modalities and the provisioning of summary descriptions into a registry. Given that
unstructured data / literature is a core resource for scientists some text processing tools will be identified for
further integration into a registry of core resources. This project will help the company with
pre-commercialization activities for products targeted to the Environment monitoring agencies.
