Canada has one-fifth of the worlds freshwater resources and the longest coastline in the world. This habitat is important to many fish species with high commercial, recreational and cultural value. Researching and managing such a vast resource requires state-of-the-art technologies and the best scientific techniques. The Chair of Aquatic Molecular Ecology and Ecological Genomics will leverage these technologies and techniques to address basic and applied questions in conservation, fisheries management, evolution and ecology. This research will then be used to better assess and manage regional fish populations and the effects that human-induced and environmental changes have on these species.
