Canada has one-fifth of the world's fresh water and the longest coastline of any country. Research and management of these resources requires state-of-the-art technologies and scientific techniques. The CRC in Aquatic Molecular Ecology and Ecological Genomics' second term will focus on five objectives: (1) genomic fingerprinting of Striped Bass; (2) high-throughput genomics of cod through time and space; (3) developing next-generation eDNA tools for fishes of Canada; (4) discovering aquatic invertebrate microbiome functions; and (5) growing CRI Genomics services. Pursuing these objectives will result in high-impact, high-profile results and will give end-users tools and understanding to conserve these vital resources.
