Graphics Processing Units (or GPUs) are widely used to perform general purpose computing. To differentiate between conventional usage of GPUs, which mainly focused on running graphics applications and the new approach of employing GPUs to run general purpose applications, researchers often use the term General-Purpose Computing on Graphics Processing Units (or simply GPGPU), In order to take advantage of GPU resources software developers use languages different from conventional programming tools. Among these programs the two most prominent ones are OpenCL and CUDA.
This project aims at using GPUs to enhance phase unwrapping as one of the critical tasks performed in Synthetic Aperture Radar applications. The improvements will result in more efficient and effective modelling of maps.
The project will be the next step following our earlier collaboration and partnership and 3vGeomatics (3vG) a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) company.
