项目摘要

In recent years, helical piles have showed significant promises in construction industry due to reasonably lower cost associated as compared to the conventional piles. On the other hand, the importance of soil characterization for deep foundations can't be neglected as the safety of the foundation is profoundly dependent on it. For small projects such as helical piles, soil investigation is a serious concern for constructors as its cost exceeds the project's cost sometimes. Technical knowledge required for investigation is also a major hurdle. Considering these factors, it is important to develop a correlation between r soil types and helical piles capacities. This correlation will ascribe soil types with certain capacity of helical piles and will allow constructors to install them without soil investigation thus keeping the budget reasonable for small projects. Our partner organization is ACTIVE Enterprises Ltd intends to use helical piles to construct foundations for residential and light industrial units in remote locations. They are committed to enhance their business growth by evading huge costs associated with soil exploration. The characterization of soil types with helical pile capacity will greatly contribute to the Canadian economy in terms of revenues and employments. This research has potential to encourage use of helical piles in industry as other industries would afford it within their budget and more companies will concentrate in such type of foundation. Ultimately, more people will be employed to meet continuous demand of helical piles. This upsurge will also yield tax revenues and contribute in Canadian economy.
