Extending the graphical user interface and SQL enhancement for ZIM database system

Database and database management systems are central to the day to day running of any large information technology systems (e.g. banking and insurance). Database is a collection of data items related to some big enterprises such as banking information systems. The design of database includes relational data modeling, conceptual modeling using entity relationship (E-R) or unified modeling language (UML), and programing in SQL and/or object oriented languages. Zim Corporation provides software products and services for mobile and database markets. ZIM software is a Relational Database Management System that implements and uses a Data Dictionary that fully adheres to the E-R Model. Zim Corporation's desire is to have graphical capability to model and visualize systems application definitions. Specifically relevant to Zim corporation is to provide a complete software that is highly interactive [with graphical capability] and mechanisms that application developers can use in order to speed up development process, define and embed business rules, and visually guide the understanding of the core business. The objective of this research project is to embed the ZIM E-R modeler into the ZIM's integrated development Environment (ZimIDE) in order to provide three basic functions: modeling new applications, re-engineering of existing applications, and displaying these models (both new and old applications) in either graphical version or a text version. The project will provide a full development process from analysis and design to implementation and verification of a proof of concept.
