英文摘要
The goal of our research is to understand what factors are important in the design of large displays to support community awareness, exploration, and engagement. We also aim to explore how public display systems can be used to collect citizen-centric data that can be used by governments and public transportation industries to improve services for them. In the project, we will iteratively prototype an interactive system for transportation riders focused on gamification and community engagement. Riders will be able to play a location-based game using their mobile device while traveling to public transit, while waiting at public transit stations, and while using public transit. Such a game, for example, may ask players to capture pictures of specific locations on their route in exchange for experience points within the game. The game will also be shown on public displays situated at key transportation hubs. These large displays will show information about who is playing, where they are playing, and will allow players to engage in additional game content by interacting directly with the display. City government administrators will create game content as a means to provide citizens with relevant information about their community. For example, content may include information about specific locations in the city such as community events, tourist attractions, or new urban developments that the city is seeking feedback on. As transportation riders play the game, it will collect their game play data, which will contain location and time data of relevance to TransLink about ridership.
