项目摘要

Net Zero Waste Abbotsford Inc. (NZWA) has developed and patented a technology that recycles food and yard wastes to produce compost and wood fibres. NWZA is striving to make Abbotsford more eco-friendly in municipal solid waste management, and thus proposing to utilize the residues of this process, which would take a lot longer to break down after composting. Therefore, Net Zero Waste will implement a further densification process to utilize these residues as a possible renewable energy fuel source. NZWA is also in need of determining the physical and compositional characteristics of the fuel pellets. The objectives of this proposed collaborative research and development project are to test the residues generated during the composting operation and to investigate parameters involved in making durable fuel pellets from these residues. NZWA will be able to use the project results to assist with the design and implementation of the pelletization process at their pilot plant. A knowledge base for the composition and characteristics of the plant outputs will also be established.
