Intelligent recommendation and automatic maintenance of loyalty rewards programs

Canadians have been heavily depending on various loyalty rewards programs in their daily life, e.g., Airmiles, Shoppers Optimum, Canadian Tire Rewards/Money, Aeroplan, and many more. While these rewards programs bring savings to customers as well as profit to retailers, the inconvenience of carrying tens of rewards cards has greatly limited customer participation in the rewards programs. A promising solution is to manage the rewards cards with smartphones, which not only eliminate the use of physical cards but also augment the services offered by the rewards programs. Fanplastic, a product from CompuClever Systems Inc., is one such solution. The goal of this Engage project is to address two core technical challenges in the fanplastic platform: (1) design and develop an intelligent, optimal rewards recommendation engine, and (2) develop an automatic search engine over cloud for the update and maintenance of loyalty cards and third-party services. The main output of this project includes: (1) an optimal recommendation engine for context-aware, user-friendly coupon recommendation, (2) an automatic backend search engine for updating the loyalty cards database and associated third-party services in the cloud, (3) an application programming interface (API), which can be called directly by the fanplastic platform, to execute the algorithms and output the results.
