This CRD project is aimed at developing a new approach for improving enterprise electric power systems. The reliability of electric power systems for enterprises and institutes has taken an unprecedented importance. For example, with the fast expansion of Internet applications, virtually all Internet data centres need to find effective solutions to enhance reliability, since service interruptions caused by a power outage or internal equipment failure are catastrophic for data centres. Even the smallest power interruption can cause equipment failure, data corruption or data loss. For hospitals, power outages may result in losses of life. The importance of power reliability at the enterprise-level cannot be over-emphasized. The success of this CRD project will create a positive social-economic impact on Canadian industry by advancing our knowledge in the effective use of enterprise power systems.
