Funding is requested for equipment that will allow the non-invasive analysis of body composition in small mammals. Information on body composition is essential in a wide array of domains in the natural sciences. The equipment specified in this application allows very rapid determinations of lean body mass and adipose (fat) mass. Remarkably, results are generated in approximately one minute. The EchoMRI provides the fastest and most accurate analyses, compared with any other equipment worldwide. It is the gold-standard approach, and used by international leaders in the fields of animal physiology, endocrinology and metabolism.
