Optical diffraction often limits us. It determines the smallest things that we can see under a microscope, the smallest focus spot we can make with light and the smallest particle that we can trap with optical forces without using damaging laser intensities. This Discovery Grant will seek to overcome these limits and to enhance light matter interaction at the nanoscale.
