This project deals with the process of preparing transportation fuels by hydrodeoxygenation of biooils. New hydrodeoxygenation catalysts will involve two new types of catalyst supports namely a high surface area gamma-alumina prepared by hard templating and activated biochar. The general objective is to optimize the hydrotreating procedure which should be simplified when the biooil is preliminarily deacidified.
