英文摘要
Prolonged sitting is known to have a negative impact on health, yet the average Canadian spends up to 10 hours a day sitting. There is growing interest in developing new technologies and strategies to minimize the health consequences of prolonged sitting. CoreChair was developed to address this concern. CoreChair uses a novel multi-axis seat pan design to facilitate spine and pelvic movement and stimulate the metabolism while sitting. The current research project will evaluate the link between seat pan pressures and measures of lower limb tactile sensitivity, blood flow, and importantly the comfort of the user. The aim of the project is to identify whether changes are required in the CoreChair seat pan design to optimize healthy prolonged sitting.
