Foundry Spatial is a Canadian environmental science and consulting firm. A key area of market success has been development of online tools for water resource managers but all our tools to date have focused on surface water. Groundwater and surface water have traditionally been studied and managed as separate, non-interacting resources but scientists, water managers and policy makers have recognized that groundwater and surface water are interacting components of the water cycle that should be conjunctively managed as a single resource. Unfortunately, the tools available for water managers often still consider groundwater and surface water as separate entities or represent their interactions in very simplistic ways. At Foundry Spatial Ltd. our clients increasingly have questions that require integration of both groundwater and surface water data and tools. Through this new partnership with Dr. Tom Gleeson and his 'Groundwater Science and Sustainability' research group in UVic's Department of Civil Engineering, we aim to do the research to develop and test the next generation of water tools that can be integrated into our market-ready products.
