英文摘要
Central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) is a type of hearing disorder that affects nearly 5% of school-aged children as well as 70% of older adult population. Patients with CAPD generally have healthy peripheral hearing but deficits in the processing ability of auditory information in the central nervous system. Diagnosis is extremely important as its failure may affect children's ability to develop normally, or to communicate and have a good quality of life. This proposal seeks to extend Vivosonic's Integrity V500 auditory diagnostic system to better screen for more difficult auditory disorders like CAPD by including assessment of gap detection as well as middle latency cortical response from patients.
