One of the roadblocks to evaluating the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy arises because most mAbs are generated using non-human hosts, which leads to rejection of the therapeutic as 'non-self'. The core service of our industrial collaborator, ImmunoPrecise (IPA), is to use mouse and rabbit systems to generate mAbs with the desired specificities and affinities; however, most non-human antibodies make poor human therapeutics due to a strong immune response against the mouse or rabbit antibody 'framework' and the formation of anti-drug antibodies (ADA).
