Rapid urbanization and population growth has given rise to the generation of biowastes including food, agricultural, and industrial wastes, and wastewater treatment sludge. Most waste handling strategies such as incineration and landfilling are costly and would require large footprints. Among waste management methods, anaerobic digestion is one of the most promising, conventional, economical, and environmental friendly methods for biowaste treatment. Its advantages include but nit limited to reducing the greenhouse gases and carbon footprint, generating energy in the form of biogas (methane). However, anaerobic digestion also
