The laboratory of Prof Timothy Bender (University of Toronto, Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry) will partner with Celplast Metallized Products Limited (Scarborough, Ontario) in order to assess the potential of their new (confidential) metallization barrier coating process to enable the production of flexible substrates for the emerging organic electronics field. Potential applications for flexible substrates include organic solar cells (OSCs) and organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). OLED applications could include flexible digital displays or flexible light elements.
