英文摘要
The geological mechanisms that promoted graphite mineralization at the Bissett Creek graphite deposit are unknown. The possibilities include graphite mineralization during metamorphism of organic matter, decarbonation of associated carbonate (or calc-silicate) rocks and concomitant graphite precipitation, or deposition by carbon-rich hydrothermal fluids. The mechanism(s) responsible for mineralization at Bissett Creek have important implications for assessing the continuity of mineralization across the property and providing future targets for drilling. Understanding the geological mechanisms and structural controls on mineralization is also critical for developing high-confidence resource estimates and for minimizing the amount of waste material that is extracted during mining. The goal of this project is to produce a genetic model of mineralization using a novel combination of analytical techniques. This genetic model will be used by Northern Graphite to assess the continuity and extent of mineralization; this will increase confidence in existing resource estimates and provide specific targets for further drilling.
