Enabling automated real-time analyses and decision making within online social networks (OSN) is one of the most pressing problems of modern-day data mining. Due to the exponential growth of these networks (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), real-time text and image analysis poses a significant computational challenge. Making sense of media rich data streams is important for many sectors, including advertising and brand management firms, financial institutions, and the intelligence services.
