This proposal aims to use ultrasonic signals to localize an aerial object in three dimensions to within an accuracy on the order of 10 cm over a range of 6 m with a sufficiently high refresh rate to allow real time updating. Using a time difference of arrival methodology the resulting localization system will be used to develop an autolanding system on a commercial aircraft that does not require either GPS or visual cues. As accuracy scales with the size of the detector array, when used on small scale UAVs this poses a significant
