The goal of this project is to develop the capability to predict the growth of ice on GNSS antennas placed inremote and harsh environmental conditions. This information will be used to determine operational limitsbeyond which performance is no longer acceptable. Furthermore, this project will explore the possibility ofusing aerodynamic shaping to minimize ice accretion to enhance operational limits and reduce the frequency ofon site service. Numerical simulations will be used to determine the flowfield about the antennas while acustom ice accretion model based on the Stefan problem will be used to determine ice accretion.
